Follow ups is a Danger!

Has anyone noticed how common “Follow ups” is becoming in the workplace?

Huge amount of your work hours goes only for “Follow ups”

Like you literally have to follow up for the smallest things.

Why do I have to remind people to do their part?

Ex: I have 1 member who I have been following up for 8 Months for a work that can be done in just 1 day.

And he is not the only person I have been following up.

Imagine guys, how unprofessional and danger this is to work culture & Company Growth.

Accountability, ownership of work, has become rare, and sweet talks, bitching & complaints behind back, boot licking, presentation of oneself with zero content, and all has become normal.

Been thinking the same since 5-6 years. Why to follow up for people for their work. Then when will i do my work? Shall someone then follow up with me for my work? Why can't everyone be accountable enough to get their work done without external intervention?

Tell this to my boss. Gives me EOD deadline in the morning, and starts following up in next 30 mins. Follows up so much that I finish the work by 3 pm for her to get off my back

Exactly, I believe everyone will be responsible for the work assigned and they will do their best to get it completed. Everyone of us work to earn money and respectful for it.

Following up doesn’t make any sense. While giving the task, just ensure you set the right expectations like what is the work, and when you need it completed and leave it to them. If they find it difficult let them reach you for any solution or updates regards to it.

If anyone think following up is an skill, then it only makes me understand that you hired a wrong guy/vendor who can’t do the work on time.

Not about just doing the work on time, but not responsible enough to trust unless there is some valid reasons.
