Dear Veterans of Grapevine, show me the way.... I was a business analyst associate for 8-9 months in a startup which got shut down in 2022 due to lack of funding. It prompted me to go for MBA. I'm doing MBA from a good reputed college in Delhi and currently in the 2nd year. In the summer break I did some certifications courses from Coursera and Udemy in Analytics & PowerBI to further strengthen my resume. In the past few months i have applied for every possible opening in the Big4 alongside some good companies for entry level jobs in Data/Business Analyst domain. Leave selection aside I'm not even getting shortlisted. Is there something i am doing wrong or something i should try doing something else? I tried referrals in EY and KPMG when they had some vacancies but left empty handed.

It's frustrating that I'm not getting job opportunities because I graduated from an IIM. Employers are afraid that I'll demand too high of a salary. I've exhausted all my resources and still haven't had any luck. I just want a decent job and needed to vent about my frustrations. Sometimes, bad luck and a tough job market can't be avoided.

I finally got a job offer after being jobless for around 7-8 months now. But the company is offering me the same CTC I was previously drawing. Reasons they sighted were that I've been jobless for a long period now. Is this normal? The company is good. Has a good set of customers. Has raised good funding recently. Team seems to be good as well. But its the CTC that I'm unsure about. What to do ?! P.S. my prev CTC was also entry level pay, say 40k in hand on avg after all deductions.

With all the buzz about being a developed country, a basic issue which can destroy any economy is totally being overlooked. Unemployment is not on the radar of general public. If it continues like this, a collapse is on the way. Mission mode action is required if we want our new graduates to get some basic job for survival. Otherwise a ripple effect is going to blow up everything. Note: selling pakoda is not an option.
