As somebody who was born and brought up here, I have been a witness to a lot of water issues. It is particularly bad when the monsoon fails and the KRS level dips. This year is particularly bad with no solution in sight. We see these issues in May, but we hit this in March itself!
Water will always be an issue with Bangalore because of its geography. Unfortunately, human greed and lack of planning and forethought have complicated it. Failure to get water from the TG Halli reservoir and the death of the Arkavathy rivers have complicated matters. The Mekedatu project has run into issues as well. So, there is no solution in sight. We cannot be dependent only on groundwater!
If Sir MV had the forethought that Bangalore would need water and built the TG Halli dam along with KRS 80-100 years back, I wonder why none of the politicians or bureaucrats have planned for it in the last few years!
