Found a house exactly opposite to my new office. Should I take it or not?
I'm changing my job and the city. I've found a room in a house in a gated society exactly opposite my new office. My house expenses including rent + maintenance+ wifi + electricity + misc would be ~30% higher than my target budget.
Pros
- no traffic headache, zero travel time
Cons
- can't give WFH as an excuse to not go to the office
I guess there are more pros and cons that I can't think of right now.
Thoughts?

Take it but don't say you live right across.

My colleagues would see me coming and going in and out of that society won't they? Then what do I tell them?

You’re probably thinking too much. I sometimes sit in a cafe in front of my office to have a coffee and a focus time before going to office. People just assume I entered at 11:30 and no one has ever noticed.
Also, people do WFH all the time for sick pet or receiving important deliveries. Hopefully you won’t have to give reasons for WFH as long as your deliveries are fine and culture is healthy.
You probably may not even want to do WFH so much when office is close.
I live in a gated society at just 5 mins walk from my office. I don’t have any complaints. Can come home for lunches, have a flexibility to come home early if there’s no work, can go for specific meetings or events.

Exactly!! 💯💯 such freedom...
Take the house, will save a lot of money and time you spend on commuting. Just don't tell anyone about it, not even your work buddies. Keep it a secret, be careful while coming to and going from work.
I once did that for 3 years, later I switched the company and when I told my work buddies that I lived that close to the office, they were in shock as they didn't realize it for 3 years!

damm... that's sneaky.
Take it and don't tell your office folks about it.

Yep.
