Millennial vs. Gen Z
I’m an older millennial with a significant proportion of my team being Gen z. I see them being very different to how I was as a junior. Any thoughts on this?
So I ran these 2 surveys on GV. The one on the left is for millennials and the other one is for GenZ.
I really thought that the GenZ narrative was false. Guess I was wrong.
This is such a stark difference. What do you think is the reason for this?
P.S. I was born in 2000
I think you still have a biased group for GenZ. Wealth distribution is pretty wide in India, you are considering only people on GV who have access to internet and actively use it for stuff like GV(kinda like Reddit crowd). Most Indian use it for Insta, FB, or YT. Very few select people use it for thread like social media’s like Reddit( and recently GV too).
Not saying this poll is wrong or anything but I think there should be an official survey where they take people form all walks of life, maybe in ratios of wealth? Like 1% respondants from top 1% family wealth in country etc.
Idk if this would be the most accurate strategy but seems so. Reason I say is that people won’t even consider WLB when your next meal for your family is not sure and you are the only one supporting family. Compare to someone whose parents are retired by their choice(reached financial goals) and their kid is just starting in corporate. That kid can afford to have WLB or even explore by taking a break, if required.
Do this survey for millennial vs GenZ based on what I said. Then we shall see.
this is meant for fun but i do think GV represents India's urban corporate work force quite well (other than the tech/blr bias)
everyone that you work with mostly comes from a top 1-2% household
all of us 9-5 folks are very privileged
Yes, I know this is for fun only. But I would like such a survey to be actually done in India. The responses in Developing nation would be very different from West. WLB concept came from west only because they have reached the level that they don’t have to care much. Here I can’t even trust the police to help me.
Ps: I am not debating any east/west debate topics or anything like that. Just saying that irrespective of Generation, I think for India, we all know, answers will be similar and more towards that they hustled in 20s.
GenZ is more prone to switching than keep their head down and whatever their senior says .
I as a GenZ confirm this that we like to work in comfort with proper WLB.
And don't take it for-granted that we don't work hard . We work hard and smartly.
And what about the GenZ who are not skilled enough to crack ever increasing competitive interviews?
Is there a bias for respondents when you the term “Millennials/GenZ”. In reality, I see GenZ still toiling hard (like M) to create space for themselves.
Exactly. We all value money and wealth but still depend on our limited salaries. We value family time a lot, and still we work 8-10hrs daily vs only 2hrs family time on weekdays.
Valuing something doesn't mean it will become the reality of the situation.

How are companies and startups doing marketing for Gen Z? Does anybody have any idea about this?
I hate entitled genz.. Most frauds, brought up on soyboy YouTube channels .
Boomers hated the millenials.. Millenials were too much talk and true most of it is.
So why the fuck should millenials bend over backwards for genz. If they...
I'll be happy to answer any questions about GenZ!
GenZ are the most diverse generation (accelerated by growing up with the internet since we were 4 years old) and you cannot generalise by saying 'this is genz' because no matter what, no...
Gen Z generation, those born between 1990 and 2010, is bringing to the workforce a different set of values, behaviors, and expectations, creating ripples throughout workplaces.
