  • British computer scientist Professor Demis Hassabis has won a share of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry for his revolutionary work on proteins.
  • Hassabis co-founded the AI company that became Google DeepMind.
  • He and Professor John Jumper used AI to predict the structures of almost all known proteins, creating a tool called AlphaFold2.
  • The Nobel committee called AlphaFold2 a 'complete revolution', and it's now used for 200 million proteins worldwide.
