Horror Interview Experience 😰

Recently, I underwent an interview process where the first round went smoothly, but things took an unexpected turn in the second round. The HR representative informed me that they hadn't even reviewed my CV yet, prompting a spontaneous "tell me about yourself" conversation. Despite feeling positive about the interview, I was ultimately rejected without receiving any clear explanation as to why.

Reflecting on the experience, I can't help but wonder what might have gone wrong. It's possible that the HR representative had already made up their mind about a preferred candidate, turning my interview into a mere formality. Alternatively, it's conceivable that the interviewer was fatigued after a long day of conducting interviews, leading to a less thorough evaluation of my candidacy.

Regardless of the reasons behind the outcome, it's disheartening to feel as though my efforts were disregarded. As candidates, we invest significant time and energy into preparing for interviews, hoping for the opportunity to contribute to an organization we admire. In situations like these, it's crucial for HR professionals to act responsibly and ethically, providing transparent communication throughout the process.

While I had hoped to receive feedback or at least a notification regarding the outcome, days passed without any communication from the company. The realization that I had not secured the position was disappointing, leaving me to contemplate the lessons learned from this experience and the importance of resilience in the face of setbacks.

I get the feeling buddy. Been there some days ago, will take some time but just take a note of the learnings you have had. Kuch accha hoga aage 🙌 Just if it helps, I gave an interview last week and I was you will definitely hear back and the ghosting spree followed. So I couldn't even follow what went wrong.

I had a similar experience last week. I thought I performed well in the interview as the interviewer mentioned who my interviewer would be for the next round. He also mentioned what questions I need to focus on for the next round. A day after this interview, I got rejected with no feedback. Still feeling disappointed.

HR should understand that it feels bad and we feel demotivated

Been there with 👁️🐝Ⓜ️. Salary discussion everything was done. They were about to release the Offer Letter as well, then utter silence. When I contacted the HR and Hiring team, they just left me on seen. Felt very disappointed.

If the interviewer had not even gone through your CV, red flag run. Once when I was interviewing, the interviewer was expecting I would have brought a print of my CV, I told it was in mail, your application portal, the person who is likely going to become my future teammate didn’t had time to go through CV told a lot about the culture. I just left

Your interview experience sounds like a Bollywood horror movie. HR didn't read your CV? What a joke! They're more lost than a rickshaw in a desert. What's their hiring strategy? "Andhe ki lathi"?

Why do you think HR behaves this way?

Some people become HRs because they could not become anything else. HR is a very empathetic job and not everyone can do it. Ghosting apparently is a normal habit of the Indian HRs.
I have seen some really proactive people in HR who have done degrees like btech and I have seen some really bad HRs who are MBAs in Human Resources. So it is the HRs fault here and not yours . So don't feel bad.
