Flats near MG Road/ Ashok Nagar/ Cubbon Rd.
Moving to Blr in a couple months, but my office is located right smack in Central Bangalore in Ashok Nagar with exorbitant rents. Where should I look for 1/2 bhk flats if my goal is to reduce commute time?
I am recently gonna shift to Kalyan nagar near Manyata tech park with 2 of my college mates. Both of them have their offices in Manyata tech park and I have my office near forum mall, Koramangala. The reason we are shifting from SG Palya, near christ to Kalyan nagar is that they both have their offices 5 days a week while I have to go only twice a week. My commute is gonna be 14km long one way. We searched for flats in cox town, frazer town, Kodihalli, but either the flats were not available for bachelors or were going way over the budget. At the end of a 3 days long hunt, we found a decent place to stay in kalyan nagar’s, T Krisna Reddy layout. What are the multiple ways to make my commute more efficient. People of blr who already have been commuting please share some advice.
Its gonna be a 2hr journey and a tiring one esp during rain and peak hours. I use to travel that much with my Thunderbird bike. Crazy exertion happens.! Would advise you to move with someone else. Not feasible in long run.
Harder than the south pole landing
Kalyan Nagar to Koramangala?? I wouldn’t suggest it, you’ll spend half the financial year in traffic.
It’s only twice a week so I am hoping it should be manageable. The idea of staying alone in 1bhk near my office scares me. Also all the expenses I would have to bear alone.
If your office actually guarantees only 2 days a week, that’s less troublesome, yeah. Also factor in petrol/cab fare, ‘it’s not that cheap either. I guess you’d have to figure out the best times to leave, and maybe make friends near office so you can crash there/leave later in the night to avoid traffic.
Stayed in Bangalore on and off for 5 years, sometimes for 2 days sometimes for 30 days. It is very exhausting to travel (coming from someone who lived in Bombay riding trains from Byculla to Thane) as you have no clue whats happening. Google maps will show 35 mins at T1. 20 mins later at T2, it is still 35 minutes. I used to panic as I couldn't commit a time. Sometimes for an 11 am meeting at Whitefield I used to leave Rajajinagar at 7 am. As I had no clue what the road holds for me.
Ever since I moved base to Bombay, not having visited Bang since 6 months life is at peace. One major advantage I have is I live in Sobo, hence travel as an issue is gone, cant say the same for people living in say Virar or Thane. Post coastal road and the metro and Trans harbour link, it should be even better. I am going to explore other cities like Indore and Hyderabad soon. Tl:Dr wasting 3 hours per day in traffic IMO is not worth it, move!
