Will not be surprised if something like this happens in India too. But since currently there are no restrictions as such, it might take some time to completely implement it.

Somewhat likely. I think countries like Russia, Iran, Canada, New Zealand etc. might be frontrunners in adopting this. US, India and other governments will follow suit after this practice has become commonplace.

All governments want to control their citizens even more than they already do. Some of them are more open and upfront about it, while others try to take a covert approach.
