How people's negative opinion stops other from seeking help to improve their wellbeing? Even if they actually needs it.

Recently an individual posted the following: " Lol... Yet another doctor to tell us we have ADHD, depression.. This is by far the best job in the world. Imagine people paying you to hear them talk!!.. And after the session, all you have to say is it's good that your are opening up all the while thinking " we got an idiot for a other another 30 more sessions"... "

Wow that's some pretty deep trauma and bias you have over there.

First of all let me clarify that ADHD is primarily diagnosed among kids and rarely in adults. So if you are a 10 year old no need to worry about it.

Second, Depression is not flu which can be transferred if somebody says you have it. There are 50% chances of an individual diagnosing with depression if there first degree relatives have it. And it can triggered by any traumatic and painful incident.

People don't pay Psychologist to hear them talk. They pay because they want somebody unknown who wouldn't judge them to hear that they are also human and can have emotional concerns.

No trained psychologist thinks that the Client is an idiot just because they have problems. We are literally trained for 7- 10 years to treat them as humans with empathy.

So please next time before givng any free opinions study and research how many people are actually facing emotional concerns just because they don't have somebody to listen to them.

This type of comments actually negative influence the individuals to NOT seek help even if they necessarily require it.

Please don't get influenced, make your opinions and decide what you want for your emotional and mental wellbeing.

Thanks for calling out misconceptions! Much needed. Therapy is a personal journey people should undertake to not be depressed or anxious or mad as they say it
