How to negotiate?

I've recently got an offer from a Unicorn Startup, and they pay pretty well (My friends do work there) But I'm getting lowballed. They're offering only 50% of what they offer, and even after having so many calls, they're at max pushing it to 70%, which doesn't make sense to me. They are claiming my Current CTC & saying they can only offer a 30% hike. I don't even get that point. I think ur new CTC shouldn't be based on your previous especially if you are already paying so much to others. Getting less than what my juniors are earning in the same position, baffles me.

How do I move forward? I've clearly said that I'm only interested in this amount of money. At the same time, I feel it's better than what I make right now (not much better tho, because WFH vs WFO) I'm okayishhh with the work I do, but the brand name is also a valid concern (I do have a few brand names in my Resume, and that does actually impact)

How do I push more? I've clearly told them that this is what you pay & they accept it but constantly raise my Current CTC as their brahmastra. Also, I don't like the tone she's talking with (repeatitvely making me feel inferior about current CTC & my less exp & all), nor do I want to lose my temperament

Also one question, they've asked me for the Offer letter, and I have stupidly handed it to them. Is that a norm? What to do in that case next time? I already told them before interviewing how much base I'm expecting.. And they said it would depend on your interviews (where I'm a strong hire) & CTC. And now they're behaving weirdly.

Similar kind of thing happened with me. I clearly told them I won’t be joining and fortunately they came back with my proposal number :) If you are a strong hire chances are that they will come back

I did the same , I won't name the company, but it was a well established company. They were offering only 30% of current CTC , I told I already have a offer of 50% from the Current CTC. I tried to convince but they didn't ,I was a strong hire and they required smone like me with a skill set in their team.but they didn't raise the offer

Later I joined a product base company ,which gave a very good offer I couldn't refuse.

And to my surprise after I joined there ,the company x which previously hadn't raise the package came to with double the offer what I was getting at the product base company.

But I didn't join that, thought it could have been easy for me ,but I wanted to keep my loyalties and ethics straight, and money automatically will follow.

And being loyal and showing ur domain knowledge, actually have me at double the salary what I was initially hired for in 2 years.

@Paul I would say find a company that see's ur talent and admires u and ur thoughts . It should be like a 50-50 partnership, like a win win situation for u both.money will follow automatically.hope that helps....😄

Also @Paul , ur hike also depends on the base salary, if ur at higher package u cannot expect it to go above 100% ,it's most likely they would give a 3/4 th of it ,which in ur case is 70% .

Don't see and compare ur package with juniors. I as a junior had higher package than my brother who was a lead. So younger generation is tend to overtake. Even u would have got higher package than smone senior who considers u as junior. So keep that also in mind...😃

Yes, I agree I can't expect 100% hike with a high salary.

I'm sorry I think my Junior point is misleading, what I mean is they also offered the pay I'm expecting on the same role without experience. Nevertheless I got your point.
