How to switch ?

Hi all, I’ve been working with oracle for almost 2 years. It feels stagnant now. No new skills, newtech to work upon, moreover my position is Associate SDE but I’ve been with QA team since beginning. I’ve talked to manager regarding same but no fruitful outcome. I feel stuck. Im actively looking for switch but can’t figure out which skills to study or start from bcoz different companies ask gor different skillset. And my profile looks more like automation tester then SDE. Pls help !!

If you started as a fresher and have 2 YOE and want to switch anyhow

Then you can do either of the below:

  1. Stay in the current role and company in the meantime prepare to switch to SDE. (You can find many resources about switching from SDET to SDE)

But this might take 3-12 months depending upon your aspirations and current skillsets.

  1. Since you are just in the beginning of your career, you can switch as SDET first and then in the new job you can start prepping for shifting to SDE.

(Some companies have programs which support such transitions).
