Indian women cricket - A saga of mediocrity

These mediocre players have piggybacked on men cricket team's success and BCCI's largesse to earn Crores for themselves.

But what do they have to show for it?

Literally women's cricket has 6 okay teams. And you have the most influencial board backing you - How can you be so mediocre still?

No one expects Indian women team to be #1. Australia is by and far the best side, and that too by a margin. England is #2 also by a margin. Where has India progressed? What do they have to show for the money BCCI is putting in?

It's laughable that these players have accumulated the net worth that they have. Smriti Mandana and Harmanpreet are worth $3-4m each. How the fuck? For other women sportspersons to come to limelight, you at least have to get India a medal in Olympics.

What have they done to achieve this?

Literally piggybacked over men's success and ability to draw large crowds.

The women's IPL is only a moderate success because of the international Aus and Eng players. Remove them and we'll have the same standard of play as Oman vs Namibia game.

I would rather BCCI give that money to a woman's sport where we can create impact. DEI charity hi karni hai to dhang ke sport me karo. Giving that money to women's teams in shooting/wrestling/badminton will create a much better ROI for the country. We will at least have a sport where our women will be good contenders for Olympic medals.

Smriti Mandhana is overrated as fuck. The way she gets out for spin makes me believe that if she made it to nationals, any avg woman can do it.

Best ROI for parents is not to make their daughter study for NEET/JEE/CA/Law but to train her to be a cricketer and not be pathetic looking. Even mediocre people will earn millions.

You can't measure it against men cricket. And secondly women cricket is very nascent. And bound to fail. So, this is just a diversity thing. One has to see it the same way.

I am not measuring against men's cricket. I am measuring standalone.

A board with ample resources, best in class training facilities, a decent pipeline buildup via WIPL and only competing against 5 teams and still a question mark to reach semi finals. This is terrible. Where's the accountability? The current crop of no-good, batting for personal glory cricketers needs to go.
