Is Mamaearth another story of VCs making a shit ton of money at the expense of retail investors ?
There’s no way MamaEarth is worth 10,000 crores, I mean their products are shit, they don’t even manufacture their own products, they don’t have any patents. It’s essentially just a marketing company who have managed to sell mediocre products under the disguise of “toxin-free”. I really wished their IPO would fail 🥲
When i see products of such inflated and hyped up companies who claim to do good and justice to the bodies of its customers being toxin free and stuff and also on top of that somehow associate their brand to environment care and crap, i seriously feel like taking their products to a lab test and minutely get their tests done and compare with other homegrown authentic brands. I am pretty sure most of these mass brands or startups will have a pathetic quality and substandard products. What are your thoughts?
I am pretty sure their products ain’t 100% natural as they claim it to be. Take a look at the ingredients of few of their shampoos, they do have a lot of chemicals. But that isn’t an issue for me. Chemicals are not always wrong. It’s just the way that they market themselves, misleading people into buying mediocre products. I asked a few female friends of mine(they have more knowledge about these stuff), all of them asked me not to use MamaEarth.
You are absolutely right. I had the same experience with my female friends when I asked them about this stupid sugar cosmetics, substandard at best. When I look at these substandard products, their ingredients, their composition, i feel like getting into RnD myself, science the shit out of these products and make them genuinely environmental friendly and worthwhile. I so damn hate these predatory marketing tactics which are misleading at best. Someday I will definitely create such a brand with pure scientific claims.
Golden rule, don’t invest in larger IPOs. Go for smaller like SME & like Cello. Made 28% on listing, sold on 10.01 AM 😂😅
Yes, that does make sense. SMEs easily get oversubscribed and hence can make good listing gains. But listing gains is not what I am trying to talk about. I didn't invest in MamaEarth IPO. Infact the retail section of MamaEarth was subscribed just 1.3x. But nevertheless, Mutual funds invested and ultimately the subscription went to 8x overall. Mutual funds invest OUR money into such sub par IPOs. So ultimately, its the retail investors that will have to take the hit for some VCs to make a shit ton of money. Prominent mutual fund houses such as ICICI prudential, Axis, Nippon have invested in this shit IPO. That's what makes me sad. I always recommend my friends to do an SIP in some mutual funds, but if this is what mutual funds are doing with our money, I really think we should act upon this.
Woah. That is something I was gleefully ignoring when I ignored the IPO. Thankfully my funds didn't invest in this.
Bruhh !!!! What's a glaring error here is Females are not even there on Grapevine !! If they were sufficiently here, they couldve told how effective was Mamaearth products. Coz the biggest users are women as per data.
