Layoffs Pros

I recently laid off, sometime ago. I was privileged enough so didn't really complained about it. But what i realised is:

"Everyone should get laid off once in a lifetime." Reason being you stop being emotional about your job. Some people have a habit to treat job as a the only purpose their life has. Basically job gives them the validation which they never received from anyone.
Also you realize the hard truth that you are just a number. "Resource" as they aptly call you.

You realize your life has many dimensions than just serving someone.

Quite an experience i would say, Kuch din to guzariyen lay offs mein!

Agreeing with you. Worked for 4 years. Made good savings. Personal finance was well set up. Got laid Off. Chilling now. And taking it slow. Rejections are little frustrating but can see myself growing.

Although I was given the best employee award couple of months before layoff, some politics happened and I got impacted. Now I know how much to work for the amount they pay.

So what's the strategy to deal with the time in between? We have all been hustlers to some degree, the inaction sort of sucks.... This made me jump the gun and join a medicre company with a better role but I'm now in 2 minds....

Same, but only if you have the privilege of no bills to pay or EMIs to pay off.

I guess the idealogy behind your post is good i.e. being laid off will make one realise that your life doesn't revolve around your job and in the end of the day the company isn't your friend or family.

But with that being said it isn't a good position to be. The next job becomes incredibly tougher to get as the HR department will quite frankly straight up reject such profiles as if it is the employees fault. And most of us rely on a stable paycheck in the end of the day so unless one is quite adept with his finances or is privileged I would never say being laid off is a situation one needs to experience. It is better to learn from the experience of others and make sure that you don't get caught off guard.

Sidenote people who work in a relatively good company might get a generous severance package out of this and may not see this as a problem but still it is better not to be in that position.

No, I have come very close to getting laid off and I know how bad it feels. I almost fell into depression. You even lose the motivation to do anything in life.
