Leaving Blr in 4 months- Rant

Came to Bangalore to join an in-office role, the org and role is good.

But coming from Gurgaon, I was not able to like the city.

Some cons:

  • Extremely poor infrastructure like a tier 2 city

  • Every govt official is corrupt, police can harass you anywhere

  • You neither feel homely nor is there any vibe of a cosmopolitan city. Local politics will not let this city become a cosmopolitan startup hub. Gurgaon is so so much better.

  • Everyone just wants to loot money, everything is expensive. Rent is high, landlord deducting 1 month extra rent, unnecessarily high security amount, cook and maid everything is so effin’ expensive

  • Alcohol is expensive.

  • Good food is expensive

The value of money is lesser here as compared to the rest of the country.

I have a flight tonight and I am so happy that it’s a one way flight.

I don’t mean to offend anyone, but bangalore can be very lonely and it has been so for many of my friends.

Particularly ease of life is much higher in NCR and that’s why a lot of people move back. Those who feel otherwise haven’t lived in NCR so Bangalore is more of just a bubble for them.

Adios!

I have been to NCR, cant stand the crazy honking and the air pollution. I prefer expensive living than not living.

Good for you man! 🤘🏻 What’s important is to like the city you live in.

Yeah! I think people always search their comforzone wherever they go! But whats fun if everything is same.

It's not all cons some are kinda mixed -

  • Year round good weather and low pollution is worth trading off for higher rent and slightly more expensive standard of living
  • It's safer for women compared to NCR
  • there are lakes and greenery in the city!
  • corrupt police and locals or angry jaat Bros in fortuners, pick your poison
  • you can ask the auto driver to help debug code as he also knows c++ in Bangalore
ZippySushi
ZippySushi

Disagree with a lot of points but I understand that you are using stereotypes and humour to make a point.

GroovyBoba

Yea. Like I have seen many people move from here to Bangalore with no plans to ever come back and some who came back and never plan to leave.
Depends on what you are looking for in the end I guess

Left Bangalore a long while ago due to similar reasons. Hyderabad or Gurgaon are MUCH better in my experience.

Was in Gurgaon Last year, and the city has improved by miles in terms of Infra and living amenities. That being said, Dilli NCR waale kahin aur kabhi khush nahi rehte.. I have had friend in Bangalore, hyd, Mumbai all went back to their core city.

Must be something good, right! 😄

@Jimhalpert's problem with Gurgaon is that only one part of the city (generally built by developers) is good. Golf course, cyberhub etc are all glitzy and awesome. cross the highway and go to old Gurgaon and it feels like you are in another city altogether. if you remain in that small confined coop then things are fine. Bengaluru is more uniform. u can find good places to live across the city.. only problem is the transport sucks :)

Having lived in NCR can say its a cheaper, well connected and vast city to live. If not for the wrecking of lungs and longevity of self and dear ones, would have settled there.

No water in Bangalore, but yeah happy that this city worked for you.

Bhai now that I have 2 offers, I have asked for relocation to Gurgaon where they have 2 offices. They may choose to ask me to visit Ggn office or wfh or ask me to quit which honestly I don’t want. But I can’t live in Bangalore either.
