Locals are wreaking havoc in Bengaluru

It's madness what's happening in this city. I was once, myself, attacked by a mob after a guy ran his bike into my car and then threw a huge rock at me because I called him crazy.

20-odd people not only beat me up, but also beat my dad up and harassed my mom.

And guess what? The Bengaluru police refused to file a case stating if my aadhar doesn't have my local address updated on it, they can't take the FIR.

I really hope this city is left by companies soon and these service/gig workers get a taste of how their lives would be without the migrant population of the city.

Let's calculate the probability of an aggressive altercation between a car and a bike per day in Bangalore.

Given Data Recap:

  • Population of Bangalore: 14,008,000
  • Number of Bikes: 7,500,000 (75 lakhs)
  • Number of Cars: 2,310,000 (23.1 lakhs)
  • Percentage of Vehicles on the Street: 50%

Calculations:

  1. Total Number of Active Vehicles:
    • Bikes on the street: (7,500,000 \times 0.5 = 3,750,000)
    • Cars on the street: (2,310,000 \times 0.5 = 1,155,000)
    • Total vehicles on the street: (3,750,000 + 1,155,000 = 4,905,000)
  2. Total Daily Vehicle Interactions:
    • Estimated interactions per vehicle per day: 10
    • Total daily interactions: (4,905,000 \times 10 = 49,050,000) interactions per day
  3. Daily Altercations:
    • Assume 1,000 altercations per year.
    • Daily altercations: (\frac{1,000}{365} \approx 2.74) altercations per day
  4. Probability of an Altercation per Interaction per Day:
    • Probability per interaction per day: (\frac{2.74}{49,050,000} \approx 0.0000000559) or 0.00000559% chance per interaction per day.

Conclusion:

The probability of an aggressive altercation happening between a car and a bike per interaction in Bangalore is approximately 0.00000559% on any given day. This calculation assumes the hypothetical rate of 1,000 altercations per year.

So, the probability is about 1 in 17.9 million per interaction on any given day.

The article is from a founder. Probably US return, these guys will exaggerate everything. He himself says he shouted at the tanker.

There are a million people living in blore, somehow all bad event happen only to North Indians. So, either they are targeted or they run their mouth disrespectfully and got their asses kicked. There are 1000s of traders from North India for the last 50-60 yrs, none complained before. These tech guys are the one complaining. So, They running their mouth is more likely than being Targeted.

If you're rich pay some money and get whatever you want in India. If you want those goons gone forever it can happen. If you want the same with their families it can happen too. If you want to torture them and make them disabled for life that can happen too.

Work with the system not against it. Use your money wisely. Not on something as stupid as a 5lakh rupee t-shirt or a 5 crore rupee car. Use money to buy influence and power.

Interesting guesstimate, however, can you explain the 1000 altercations per year number? Sounds convenient, even if slightly so, given on any given day you hear of several such incidents.

Also, please understand that I'm not just referring to car-bike altercations, but speaking of the general attitude of locals in case of any and all altercations.

PS - Please know that I had been the biggest believer that this is not true and even if true, the degree of it is as you state. I have often justified such incidents as reactionary to the historic Dravidian oppression. However, it's just getting more spiteful by the second, and without any reason so, just based on the lack of access to a language.

Noticed them in housekeeping, hospitality, plumbing, electrician roles, even in startups. Nepali families as caretakers in posh houses or Airbnb. At a co-working office in HSR, I hear them discussing getting Aadhar cards and settling per...
