IBM has quite old folks and so does banking. So I would say until 50?

ok sir.. thanks..so, need to plan accordingly.. NPS won't get matured by 50.. also I think full amount of  PF can't be withdrawn at 50 I believe?

If you are looking at individual contributor roles, you need to move abroad by 35. If you want to stay in enterprise, moving to director of engineering etc or joining startup or freelancing will be smarter.

I am curious to understand how the future looks like. For now, I think we have a clear aim. Most might not want to startup as they are well satisfied with solving other's problems. But come to think of it, I have not seen much ppl above 50 years of age in the IT industry.

With  90's and 80's generation slowly inching towards that phase, how do you guys think it will shape up?

Folks, what does the future (after 50+) hold for us, the IT professionals (Dev, Design, PMs, etc) ?

I work in a slowing industry (Ed-Tech!) in a generalist role (Project Management!) for half a decade now! You'd think I would be better positioned to deal with life! Heck, NO! 

This crippling feeling of insecurity or job loss always puts an extra stress on day to day life. I couldn't take any risks in terms of a house or a car or a big EMI purchase in life! 

What if I get laid off? Will this generalist role help in landing anything next? Do I need an MBA for that? Switching to any specialized roles will take extensive preparation with time being in short supply with family and kids! 

Seem to have been strangled in the startup world. Any cure for this?

P.S : Sometimes thinking : Mommy sahi bolti thi. Govt job le leni chahiye thi. :D

As we know that in cricket the usual age for retirement is around 33-35 max, what age or number of years of experience do you think is kind of the upper limit for IT guys in India?

I have this question constantly coming in my mind. Why do I feel like people who work in software vanishes around age 45. When I look in all companies I have worked I have never seen anyone who is in their 50's. Even if I see they are only handful. Where are the other people who joined with them? In other industries Inam able to see a lot of people above 50.

General question to all the folks who are in IT industry for more than 10 years. What do you think your career path in IT will be after the age of 50 years considering AI and Automation. 
Also as we move up the ladder the number of roles decreases significantly. 
For more experienced people switching different companies also becomes quite difficult. 
What is your backup plan for this?

Is software industry oversaturated? Do you feel companies will discriminate with us once we hit 40+ age as more and more people are coming into it? I can see class 6 th and 7 th std kids are doing coding just like we had fad for jee classes. If there is oversupply of enggs. companies, whatever the fate mech and civil branches suffered, cs will bear the same. Should one go for mba( off course from top colleges) ?

At the age of 32 I want to switch career from electrical background to IT. After some research I want to go to SAP basis, or any other ERP. At this age is it right thing to do?? Plz suggest. 
I have learnt SAP basis from online and is somewhat good at it. But didn't work professional in SAP. Used to practice from rented servers and dumps.

In electrical am earning 40,000 which I think is low and I can't see better future pay than this here. Although the job is stable, pay is very less in this field. Please give suggestions

Non-IT to IT at the age of 32

I know many oldies who should be fired immediately. Forget tech, they are not even able to manage teams properly. 

Even so called "Seniors/Leads" don't know how to be one, if you question them, somehow it hurts their ego and you need to follow/respect them because they were born earlier ?

Tech should be limited to max till 12 years of work experience only, rest should transition into some other career, start your own startup or business or something but don't be an employee in a big company.

"Years of Experience" mean nothing in Engineering
