Motivate me pls

I am preparing for the Staff engineer role. Have put my resignation without any offer in hand due to being highly underpaid, no recognition towards my high-value work, poor management, toxic work culture and work-life balance.

I lose all my motivation to study gauzing at the things I am yet to study for the interviews.

I don't want to settle with another mediocre company and stay under paid just like today. At the same time I don't have any monetory reserve to feel safe on financial side.

Please help me with your words and past experiences of being in a similar situation.

Market or industry will never be favourable for switch. Come anytime and you will hear that market is not suitable or slowdown is going on, hiring is on hold. We are hearing this for last so many years and people are switching and getting hikes at the rate which they would achieve after 5-7 years if they stay in company.
If you have decided to leave, leave the company, make a proper plan for preparation and start appearing for interviews. Remember- being in company with some project on hand , you will never be able to prepare. There is no such project or work where you do half things or provide half inputs. If you don’t work, they will torture you and then in frustration of both things, you will not be able prepare anything. So what you need is a good plan to prepare and dedication to follow. That’s it. People don’t grow in same company, only switchers do.
Only right time is NOW. period

Mere bhai it's confirmation bias. BTW why can't you move out staying in same company and putting resignation after getting an offer?

Please take back your resignation. Not the time for cowboy shit right now. Market is brutal, recruiters are ghosting and putting on hold like crazy. Absolute buyers market, you will be lowballed whatever you do

Bad time to put papers without offer/offers, on top of that you are looking for staff role, staff role depending on org generally ranges in 8-12 YOE, not talking about startups where anything is possible.

These are senior roles even for IC, the openings itself gets lesser and lesser the higher you go.

Either buckle up and prepare well and start interviewing or take back your resignation if you don’t have financial cushion to get by without job for 6-12 months

+1. Definately not the best time as far as market situation is confirmed. Do consider taking back your resignation. Wait and prepare. Word is the market will improve in the next year or so. Then make a switch.

From where did you get this insight that market will improve next year?

Everyone said the same about 2024 last year. This year is more brutal than 2023.

I also resigned without offer and going through same situation. Only you know what can motivate you to study. What scares you the most in this situation and use that to your advantage.

Correct. Being consistent and focused is the key.
