I am currently working as a Service Desk Analyst at Wipro, and I am on bench. Yesterday, I received a call regarding an open position as a Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer. This role involves monitoring servers, databases, and infrastructure, and I believe I will be using SolarWinds for this project.
I am unsure whether to accept this job or not. While I have cracked the interview, which focused mostly on basic networking questions, I have 90 paid bench days that I could use for rigorous upskilling to transition into cloud computing. However, I feel that transitioning with just certifications and theoretical knowledge might be challenging.
On the other hand, taking this job would give me practical experience, which could be beneficial for my career. I could also upskill myself alongside the job, but I’m concerned about how stressful NOC roles can be and how difficult it might be to manage certifications and learning while working.
Additionally, I feel my non-technical degree is a significant hindrance, so I am considering pursuing an MCA by completing the bridge course for 11th and 12th-grade mathematics.
I’m feeling quite mixed up and would appreciate any guidance, advice, or notes on how to proceed.
