New 20000 crore market just opened up

Nestlé’s baby food brands including Cerelac and Nido added sugar in the form of sucrose, in lower and lower-middle income countries including India — but not in the products sold in Europe or UK, according to a report by Swiss investigative organisation Public Eye and International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN).

The research was conducted at a lab in Belgium, and examined Nestlé’s baby food products from Asia, and Africa branded as Cerelac, Nido, Mucilon and Dancow. These contained an average of 3 grams per serving, and in some cases up to 6 grams. Similar products tested in the European markets showed no added sugar. A Nestlé India spokesperson has attested that the company has reduced the sugar content in the baby product portfolio by 30% over the past five years, NDTV reported. In 2022, the sales on these products exceeded Rs.20,000 crore in India alone.

Nestlé has been under the scanner in the past for similar violations in several African countries. Reports from the 1970s raised the alarms on their unethical marketing practices in an effort to push artificial feeding over breastfeeding.

Don't know why I'm so pissed with these news. Kinda knew it, but they have ruined generations. Most of Indians turning out diabetic, obese and heart attack prone may not just be "lacking exercise". The food has been laced with unhealthy sugars when we didn't even know they were bad for us.

And so passed with government. Europe has such tough food laws, even US. But India, we are just numbers. If I die, there will be 50 to replace me, or even more

Fckin pissed!!

who is to be blamed? all those Bureaucrats who are first in line to claim government benefits and collect bribes. At least the Modi government should use this as an opportunity to clean up the beauracracy. A few people must be punished.

Modi government has Ambani and adani as their father's whom they have to serve. They can just launch their own brand with much worse quality

RANT:-
Indians get worst quality in air, water, food or any other basic goods or services, because we dont know how to ask for it, how to appreciate it. We will be happy with Ram temple and being better than Pakistan for a long time to come.

Pathetic standards of air, water, food, medicine, road, education, jobs, justified in the name of culture.

Or may be someone keeps justifying and diverting the basic issues with cultural superiority, and trying to find the convenient excuses by blaming psychological aberrations.

Nestle is one of the most morals less evil company that they even have children and monkeys as slaves to work for them including extreme exploitation. No wonder it supports 8srael and remains in BDS list

Idk but can we protest or file a case against food companies and form a Central Dept or Lab and with Stringent food rules. Because I have seen this all senseless things happen in India only. Also to order companies to take bad products away from the market. It should be moral duty of companies to provide good consumables.
