Online token amount for visitation card for flats in Bangalore

I have tried contacting people who have listed properties on 99acres/housing/no broker and the people who recieved my call(almost 99%) told me that I need to deposit 1000 or 1500 INR(only via online payment), upon receiving which they will create a visiting card for me. Once I have the visiting card, the property manager would be meeting me on the premises. Something seems fishy and leads me to not trust them.

Has anyone else encountered a similar situation? Please list your experience.

Yes, encountered this. I found it to be fishy as usually nobody asks for a visiting charge (also gated society apartment, fully furnished and 12k?! couldn't be real I thought). Since the apartment for which I came across this was nearby to my current place, I went to the apartment and checked with the security guard. He said there's no such visiting charge and that atleast 40 people had visited in the last two days to ask this. It's a fraud. Don't pay any such charges.

Scam, also a cool tip which is applicable in Delhi/Noida and may also be applicable in Bng, go for brokers over Online in flats. I got much better quality flats and places through a few brokers than through Housing,MB,99acres,etc.
I only had to pay them after i found a flat through them, so that was cool too.

But how do you find brokers, if not online

I mean mainstream online brokers like the ones given vs. just normal brokers who might have a webpage about them but thats it. Just search for good brokers in your city in Google.
