Product Manager job market
How's the PM job market now? Is it expected to improve? Been struggling since 6 months now. Not clear on how to manage career.

Don't think the market is going to 'improve' anytime soon. There is an oversupply of generic PMs with no hard skills , who just speak BS jargon. The market for them is dead. No one is going to hire a glorified meeting organizer, deadline chaser or stakeholder manager for 50LPA.
The market for PMs with hard skills - tech (SDE, analytics) and deep domain knowledge(Data, Ecomm, Adtech, Fintech, Cloud) is pretty good actually. If you're such a PM, you just need to focus a bit on finding companies that are hiring. Most of the hiring is being done in stealth and is inbound, i.e, recruiters reach out to candidates even before the job is posted. It becomes a bit tricky to discover jobs and get your resume through the door, but the opportunities are plenty. I managed to get 3 offers with zero prep within 2 months.
Got it. My problem is I was in Edtech. That's the one domain not hiring now. Switching domains is the struggle - since there are others available. Hence, I need to really bank on is an improvement in the overall market.
Ohh I see, a recruiter from Allen Digital pinged me recently for edtech PM role, you may want to check there. Yeah i agree switching domains is super hard right now. I don't think it's going to get easier anytime soon. If I were you i would even settle for lesser pay at startups to move into other domains.
If you don't mind, what is your location and Salary, YOE?
I am asking because a close friend just got an excellent hike in the PM role
26-32 Lpa. 4 YoE in PM role.
I am floating my CV on job portals but somehow not getting enough calls. 2022 and 2023 was much better for me.
I am currently in a service based company and handling SaaS products. Earlier was in a bank and was managing payment product...
Thinking of exploring the PM job market for SPM/PPM roles
