I'm working as a software Engineer at a startup with almost 2 YOE. Looking at most of my friends going to usa for masters right after college i felt like I'm making a mistake by not doing the same after listening software engineers earning 100K us dollars there. I thought I'll give myself two years get some work experience and then think about it but honestly I'm still confused if i should switch(which is not proving to be so simple in the current job market) or should I go for masters (again confused here in choosing between usa or Germany or Australia). Will taking almost 40 Lakhs of loan money and doing it be worth it ? Seriously damn confused about what next step to take. When I spoke with the CTO here, he advised it's not worth and you can be earning almost similar money here soon. I'd say FOMO is also a big thing here. As i tell myself let's take the risk, 2 years of study will be done soon and then work for 3-4 years , make big money , repay the loan and get back to India. I'd be having the international exposure, experiencing some above average lifestyle than India , so confused man

First of all the cost you have calculated is incorrect. 40lakh loan will only cover the tuition fees to be paid. What about the opportunity cost? Remember that these 2 years if you had been working instead of studying, you would have earned salary for 2 years, climbed up the corporate ladder. So when making a decision take into account the opportunity cost of doing a MBA over working as well.
Yeah but have you seen the packages offered in usa ? Earning two-three years would be enough to recover the loan money and save big amounts is what I have heard from many , would like to know what do you think about it

I just said that the opportunity cost needs to be calculated correctly.
I don't want to sound a pessimist but getting a high paying IT job in USA may not be as easy as it was in the past.
So don't have too high expectations before even going there.
At the end of the day wherever you are, you will have to work hard which hopefully translates into good professional and monetary outcomes.
If you are ready to put in the effort going to the US could unlock many doors for you.
If you can get admitted to a top university then it is worth it. You may do worse than your peers initially but in the long time it may work out for you. Atleast you will probably lay rest to what if questions you may later have in life.
Basically do a cost benefit analysis of the long run before doing anything

Today, I was having the same convo with my parents. Tho US is out of equation for me, plus today I read a detailed thread about how top 500 univs on merica this year alone will produce at least 55-60k cs grads.
Put in front of job availibilty, it’s not proportational, and with so much attrition going on market rn, orgs are preferring lean teams over dozens of them. They said, grds from last year are still on job hunt as of now.
The number of people I ask, more confusion I’m wrapped with. Prob I’ll be choosing Deusteland over Merica!!

I'm exactly getting more confused as I ask more people and the irony being I did the same again now lol 😂 Job market tells how the no of people looking for jobs in usa as well is piling up every year, but let me tell you there's a tough recession going on in Europe as well since you're thinking of Deutschland
My recommendation would be - Go for MS, it will expose you to a new world altogether. Those learnings, experiences will work for rest of your life.
Recovering 40lakhs would be easy, especially with on-campus jobs (with prof workex under your belt).
Yes i have heard about getting jobs at the univ itself under the professor helps a lot, not sure what extent that would help with the loans
