Other Offer in hand from a startup (sass b2b) Fixed- 43.5LPA Variable- 4.5LPA Esops- 1Cr over 4 years
You should go for Microsoft even if it isn't optimal at the moment in terms of cash component. In the long run this will pay off by opening a lot more doors in tier1 and FAANG companies or you might get chance to also move onsite to US where you can earn a lot more. ESOPs have no value until the startups make an exit - where the odds are highly against you. Probability would be less than 1%. I've worked with multiple startups and learnt this the hard way. Also as you move up the levels, it gets increasingly more competitive to get into tier1 companies. So get into it while you can.. and think of long term than short term salary deficit. It will pay off..
Same here. I have been in startups where the org would not honour your esops, or have some or the other issue. On the other hand MSFT being a public company you have that advantage.
