Seeking Advice from Other Women

As a 24-year-old woman, I'm curious to hear from other women about the challenges and triumphs you have faced at this stage of life. What advice would you give to your younger self, and how do you navigate career, relationships, and personal growth? Looking forward to your stories and insights!

Real challenges start after you get married and have kids. I read a comment once that women hit their glass ceiling when they have kids. They have to step back in order to take of their families and that has been so true in my observation. Some women are able to grow but many struggle!!

At 24, you're at such an exciting and transformative stage of life. Here's what I've learned and what I'd tell my younger self:

  1. Don’t be afraid to take risks and explore different opportunities. Your 20s are for trial and error, so try new things, network intentionally, and keep learning. Find mentors who can offer real feedback and guidance.

  2. Set boundaries and prioritize your self-worth. Whether it’s friends or romantic partners, surround yourself with people who uplift you. Don’t feel pressured by timelines, take your time to figure out what you want and who adds value to your life. Feel free to explore your sexuality and what you want in your partner. Be kind and considerate.

  3. Be patient with yourself. Growth takes time, and it’s okay to feel like you don’t have everything figured out. Embrace discomfort and resist the urge to compare yourself to others. Focus on your own journey.

  4. Start saving early, even if it’s small amounts. Be mindful of credit card debt but don’t let it consume you. And while it’s important to save, don’t forget to invest in experiences that bring you joy.

  5. There’s no perfect life balance, and that’s okay. Some areas of your life will demand more attention at different times. Celebrate the small wins, and remember: you’re not behind, you’re right where you need to be.

You’re building your life step by step, so enjoy the process! 😊

I’d tell myself to take it easy in love and work, not invest my all.

One thing I have seen is women don't give good advice to other women. Unlike men, women tend to skew with a jealousy behaviour. So most of the advice is usually an echo chamber of what they wish to hear.

Proof - a feminist will never agree she was wrong. She will continue to blame others.

Early 20s advice

Turned 22 today. :) Saw a similar post on GV, men (in 20s) asking men (in 30s or so) to help their bros out with advice.

Doing a female version of this, but keeping it open. Would love to learn from your experiences, mistakes to avoid...
