I am a finance professional ICWA (CMA). I was academically brilliant, completed CMA along with graduation. Made the mistake of not doing CA, as someone advised CMA is equivalent. Took up jobs since 1996 and have worked with 4 different companies. Performed on job, rose in designation and salary. Left a good organisation in which I worked for 17 years to take up a CFO position with a pvt ltd company.
Unfortunately that company was not doing well. I was laid off 1.5 years back. Not able to find another job
Because I am a CMA, I don't get Shortlisted to most CFO openings ( they need a CA)
Since my last experience was with a pvt ltd Co, no good listed entity wants to hire me
It's been a frustrating search for last 1.5 years. Pls advise
You should do some courses/an mba if you want senior leadership positions. The job market is bad and has been for the last year or so hence they are very particular about candidates exactly matching criteria for any role at the moment. You should be able to do it from isb and get a good placement as well :)
