Software Engineer and Health

I'm a software engineer with 2 YOE working in the same company right after BTech.

I travel daily in a rather crowded metro from home to the office which takes an hour.

In the first 6 months of my work, I was diagnosed with appendicitis and had it removed through surgery, but I never understood why that inflammation happened.

Today I'm sitting on the hospital bed again this time due to severe cough and fever and the doctors have ruled out typhoid so it could be influenza or pneumonia which would be confirmed tomorrow evening after I submit my phlegm sample. The CT scan has confirmed that the right lung is damaged and covered with liquid partially which is causing the shortness of breath. I'm unable to complete a full cycle of breath(inhale-exhale) without an earth shattering cough in between.

I don't smoke or drink, I stopped eating meat from September. I always ate home food except team lunches which are one a quarter and I occasionally eat samosas or kachori (monthly twice probably)

I eat good food and I have no underlying health issues yet this happened.

And this morning while the wardboy was dragging me in a wheelchair (I insisted on walking as I was able to, they did not listen.) to my bed after the CT scan, I saw a poster in the hospital saying "Sitting is the new smoking."

My 1 month salary was wiped out in a day on hospital bills, uncertain if insurance will be reimbursed later or not.

It was like an enlightening moment for me today, Thank you God😌🙏🏻
