Suggestion for personal work laptop

A Junior SWE here I want to buy a personal work laptop and can afford a laptop upto 1.5L Given that I would be working on personal projects on this laptip, should I go ahead only with MacBook? Or any other? Please suggest

Also I am getting MacBook Air M1 13inch with 8 gb ram for 70k, since Ram is expandable upto 70k, should I go ahead with it?

Just get the M3 MBP 8Gb RAM if you get a deal under 1.5 L

Just to future proof, M1 also serves your purpose

If it's for work, get a decent spec laptop and install a Linux distro. Best. Don't get a macbook unless you're already used to it's ecosystem, no bs maintenance charges, don't have to pay a low range laptop's price just to get 1tb of storage. Wouldn't recommend a high end spec laptop since they'd be heavy

Asus, dell are good brands, I don't have a good experience with HP tho. Not sure about others.

Yes, the i7 is powerful enough for most work stuff and can handle gaming/decent productivity loads as well if you get it with a GPU. Make sure you get the latest gen of the CPU tho, at max one gen behind. 16 GB of ram is good for now for most things, you can always add another 16 GB after 3 years down the lane. Make sure it has an additional M.2 slot as well so that you can add more memory if needed

Macs no longer have expandable storage, let alone ram. U have to pay 20k for 8 gigs at time of purchase, and what u buy you will have to live with.

Easier to get a Windows machine, dual boot with linux and you will be able to use all the terminal commands you use on Mac. Brew, colima, everything works fine. Or just use WSL on windows, might need a few days to get used to. Cheaper and more practical.

Same boat. I was planning to buy the HP victus 2023 with RTX4050 model but it's out of stock since long. In Amazon the older model with RTX3060 is selling at very good price. Thinking to go with that. But its has 2 main issues, screen wobble and no usb c charging. I want a gaming + work machine, so no Mac.
