Tax on Exercised stocks

I recently exercised my stock worth 1L. Stock is listed in NYSE. I was taxed 30% federal tax, and will be receiving 70k arpx in indian currency.

Will I be charged tax in India as well ?

Next time file your W8-BEN.

US & India have a DTAA. You'll be taxed only once. The CA should help you with the precise nature of documentation required from your investment account.

thanks! appreciate the suggestion

Talk to your CA Ideally there is a form called W-some number which you fill on your broker platform. After which they do not deduct US's income tax for you. Since that hasn't happened for you, your CA might need to claim refund while filing income tax. But rest assured you are only supposed to pay the Indian income tax

appreciate the suggestion.
