Last Friday I went on a date with a girl from Gurgaon and it was the biggest mistake of my life. I was apprehended by her brother's friend at Ambience Mall. How? We were having a milkshake from Keventer's where some guy randomly pops out and starts enquiring about what we were doing.

The thing escalated and he said he will call police. I got scared. Then he motioned for someone, and that guy started misbehaving with us as well. It was becoming very stressful and I asked , "Tum chahte kya ho?" He was like, "Mhaare doston ko bhi thoda Milkshake Wilkshake pilao bhai." (Get milkshakes from KLeventers for our friends too). I was like, "Huh?" He demanded cash and said that he will get it himself. I gave them all cash I was carrying, some 2500 rupees and ran away. I think the girl was in on it too.

What should I have done?

Regret going on a date with a Haryanvi girl 👫🏻 ...

I don't think you could have done anything different. 
  
 But consider this as a narrow escape and from the next time please be extra careful when going on a date.

Background
During a trip to Thailand, me and a colleague accidentally swapped bags. When I called to explain the mistake, his wife accused me of trying to seduce her husband. She harassed me with phone calls, and later threw eggs at my residence. Then, set her husband's bag on fire and got into trouble with the police. She was then arrested.

I would also like to address those who said that the story is fake. It isn't. I genuinely posted this here because as a woman it is hard to find spaces online to vent my frustrations. I was genuinely distressed at the moment and my flatmates did take care of me. I also received tons of support from the community here and I am thankful for that.

Here's what happened next:
I decided not to press charges as I am living away from my family and I don't want this to be the reason they start interfering in my personal freedom. Over the weekend, she apologized and invited me for dinner, I obviously declined because she acted all insane before.

But she is literally so dramatic that she lied to everyone that I came to her house and hit her so hard that she puked all over her clothes. Thankfully, their society has CCTV coverage and I didn't even leave my home all weekend. So, no one believed her this time. 

Our group thankfully supported me throughout this and the colleague is no longer in the group. Now, I just want to get over this traumatic experience which when I look back at is too unreal to even think about.

Lets discuss!!! I will go first -

I quit my last organisation (a famous UPI company) in 2020 because, they still are in old technology. No cloud computing, no kubernates, no terraform. Their entire baremetal infra are in 2 DCs (Mumbai and Bangalore). Leadership ideas are outdated. I was very much bored and looking for a change.

Why did you resign?

Amount of effort i put and the salary i got was not proportional. 14 hrs to get 30k salary as a fresher. I had understood that I deserve better - thus i moved to get better pay and better wlb (which I got in swiggy)

Although currently there are no casualties, but the clip of someone jumping off the building to save themselves still haunts me. They are currently in critical condition and I hope they recover completely. 

It is starting to appear that rapid growth is becoming a duel edged sword. Yesterday's incident is a stark reminder that development and safety need to go hand in hand. 

What is the opinion of others on the platform. There have been other fire related incidents in other metro-cities as well.

I am newly allocated to a project and it's just 2 weeks happened.There is too much pressure expectations are high than my experience and also i did not like the way they treat the people and the language they are using against me.l want to release from the project..Is there will be any impact for getting into another projects If I ask for release from the project.Need suggestions

There's this coworker who comes off as extremely aggressive during discussions and individual interactions. This is causing a shift in entire team's environment in the wrong direction. Personally this is causing me to avoid getting into discussions with them. I'm looking for ways to deal with this person and keep the work environment peaceful.

Here are some of the observations about their behaviour:

1. Highly opinionated and treat others who have a different opinion as hostile. 

2. When someone else is trying to explain something which needs to be explained serially A -> B -> C, and they are interested in C, they get restless and start badgerring with questions about C while the other person is still on A.

3. In discussions, which require a deep understanding of the product, which they do not have yet, instead of admitting that they have doubts and asking questions, they try to act as if they understood it when clearly they didn't because their senior was present. For instance, they paid attention in the beginning and then got busy on their phone during the meeting and when asked if they understood, they just told the agenda of the meeting instead of what was discussed.

4. This is what tipped me off the edge. During a meeting which didn't involve their senior, they got easily frustrated when others were giving an opinion different from theirs and pointing out the issues with their opinion. After a couple of minutes, it turned into a heated argument and they started raising their voice and started making illogical sarcastic remarks. And after a bit of that they changed their tone into rude frustrated disinterest and rudely remarked "do whatever you want to do".

So far we have tried to use humor to deescalate the situation. But this is clearly not gonna work in the long run, and their behaviour is getting worse day by day. 

I am trying to avoid a confrontation with them because it is not my place and I don't want it to get ugly.

Heard from one of the employees working at this company about the covid policy it’s shit as hell. Any employee on junior level if gets in contact with covid will be given two options:

1. Either they report to office and continue working
2. Either they give their resignation. Once they are covid negative they will then have to reapply and check if the vacancy is available or not.

They generally hires freshers in bulk from coaching institutes and colleges that’s why they don’t care about them. It’s very easy for them to hire a replacement.

I feel so horrible for everyone who has to go through this experience as a fresher.

1. I know someone who is close to her. She's not what she portrays on TV. She is entitled and snooty. She's creating this fashionista image. Doesn't share good relations with her family members (those who are in their family business). They are all strictly professional. [2]

2. Can concur. The company is one of the worst places to work. It's not women friendly at all. I know a few women who were asked to resign after they applied for mat leaves. [3]

His entire job all day long was to post snarky tweets, spend hours on the website/app, then give feedback like isko bold kardo, uska color change kardo, isko italics kardo. No technical knowledge. [4]

He also forced me to move away from my parents house, be more present in office parties and at one point when I declined to attend an overnight party at the farmhouse, I was indirectly asked to resign. So I did. Coz F that shit. [4]

Walmart IDC is going down!
Walmart US Leadership Centralizes Control, Sidelining India Development Center

Walmart US leadership has instructed its top executives (directors and above) to keep all project control in Bentonville and Dallas, rather than even in California. This has led to a hiring spree in Bentonville and Dallas, while the India Development Center (IDC) has been sidelined.

Managers and directors at the IDC have been reduced to mere figureheads and people controllers, forced to toe the line of their US counterparts. This is detrimental to both managers and individual contributors (ICs).

ICs are being assigned to different teams without any support or work-life balance. They are unable to solve any problem without asking for permission from their US counterparts, even for minor details.

The US management has already begun to tighten its grip on the IDC, and the future looks bleak. Additionally, return-to-office requirements are becoming more stringent, and even working hours may be monitored.

TLDR:

The restructuring of Walmart's global operations is having a negative impact on the IDC, with managers and ICs alike being marginalized. The US management's increasing control over the IDC is creating a challenging work environment for employees, and the future of the center looks uncertain.

Hi guys,

My question is that when the client releases the requirements for the project, in our company we have to estimate and then give those estimates to the client, if they are happy, they give us a project else look for a  different service provider.

But how can I give 100% proper estimation when I have never worked on that project, currently there is a project where we have to upgrade Java version of the app, I don't know how many things will break once I do it and the Project manager wants me to estimate it. 

But I don't know how can I give an estimate to him, what if I give very few days and it turns out many things are breaking, the PM will blame me then for giving poor estimate.

He is already trying to go aggressive on timeline so that our company can get the project.

How do you folks in service based companies deal with these estimation related issues when you haven't worked on the project because the client will give us contract based on those estimation only. Does the contract become void if we are not able to deliver on those estimates, who takes the blame for these?
