Unless you have money to sustain, get a retainer client first. This will solve your money problems. If you've worked with someone in the past & have had good working relations with them, try getting them on board.
Build a landing page/website. Put up your work there.
Write at least 2-3 high-quality blogs focussing on your area of expertise. This will help drive organic traffic much later.
Build a deck you can send to someone who approaches you. Include clients you've worked with, your experience, your team, awards (if any), and key projects. This helps showcase you as a credible agency and help bill higher.
Get your Google business profile listing up. Then, all social handles, etc.
All handles should ideally include a link to your website.
Get an ".com" ".design" domain, and get an email like yourname@studioname.com. Looking professional helps.
Focus on good customer experience. You need clients who keep coming back for more.
Arnold says, "Work hard and advertise", it's pretty true. Showcase your work whenever possible.
If you are an extrovert, go to networking events, and make more connections. If you are an introvert, focus on posting/commenting on social media / making more blogs/running ads.
Having a financial goal post is helpful. Maintain an excel where you can see the projects you are doing along with how much you are getting paid for it. Project how much money you could make. Try to get enough work to meet the numbers.
Referrals and Inbound clients are the best. They usually like your work & are willing to pay. Try to get more of them.
Be okay with doing free work. But be strategic about it. Free work has the potential to be your best work.
