Uber feeling like a CTC trap and it is ruining my life
Have lately been exploring switching out from Uber to early stage startups. Exploring founding engineer roles / CTO roles with people I know well
The worst of it has been just the fact that our salaries are hard to match (even with Cash + ESOP, no matter what you do)
Like I know you need to be okay with less cash. But I now feel that it’s such a jump down, I wonder if it makes sense.
And then this feeling forever makes me averse to trying out something big, risky, bold.
It’s a catch-22 situation lol

Hey man, feeling the same... tried to reach few folks for founding engineer but they are just unable to match. What's your total experience though?
Let's create something of our own. What say?

At least Uber treats employees well. Other places with such high TC are very unfriendly. I guess you haven’t been part of such company yet

So true. Being a L5a, at my yoe, it’s almost impossible for me to switch in India.
Faang/unicorns aren’t matching current TC and joining early age startups is a bit risky.

What's your TC, Yoe ?
