VCs out there

Let's say i m noob, observing startups or mnc. I want to evaluate, understand how is the company doing. I don't want to go into to much technicality. What are those metrics i can achieve this? Also would love you to specify resources to start journey of learning such nitty gritties about businesses.. Thanks in advance

So there’s two things here:

  1. With private companies, the metrics you need to keep in mind are very sector specific. And all data is private, so it’s hard to evaluate anything outside in. That said, you can definitely do a qualitative check (How’s the team, how superior is their solution, what does feedback look like, does it seem to be growing). Also, to understand metrics, check out Anu Hariharan’s video on metrics (YCombinator video) -> Super helpful

  2. On Public Companies - Data is usually available through their financial reports. You can actually go through their own commentary in quarterly presentations to understand key metrics for the business. Additionally, go through platforms like Seeking Alpha, Reddit to see views from others.

Not an exhaustive list but good place to start
