What are you doing for your parents?

I’ve started earning well recently, and I always think of giving back to the people who were there through the thick and thin: my parents. Please give me some ideas what people are doing these days for their parents? Gifts, trips or anything will help

Personally I think the best way was to live with them and take care of them. That’s the thing that would mean the most to them and it makes me happy that both my wife and I think the same way.

I know this might be a first world problem, but what to do if parents are already well off and not dependent? Like mom earns 50lpa, dad has a small business. What are some meaningful things I can do with my 15-20lpa for them?

If you have the ability, spend more time with them.

But more to what you’re looking for - book vacations for them, 5 star hotels, business class seats etc., luxury that they probably wouldn’t experience themselves. Best is to go on these vacations/trips with them and make core memories

Upgrade your house in home town (buy one if applicable). If they already have a great house, take them to a nice international trip. Bring them to your place every year and take care of them. Last but not least pay attention to their needs/want. Do keep in mind that many of these thing won’t be possible once you get married. so you have a short window.

@Water and @made_a_chu_chu have already mentioned

But yes, vacations. They couldn’t enjoy travel because we were in school during their prime time. I think they deserve that.

My father had a travelling job, and we kids (siblings) have travelled too for work and study. But mom couldn’t, except for family holidays. So now being touristy with mom. 3-4 day trips in India, will also plan foreign once she gets a bit used to it.

P.S. Dad doesn't want to come with us 😂
