6 yoe now.
My department must've had some 50% placement back then.
One of my mate is still looking for a job and applying for all the govt competitive exams. IIT doesn't guarantee a rosy picture 🙂

Started preparing for govt exams early but couldn’t get the job
Never got placed so followed the step 1
Most folks from Civil, Mechanical, Electrical etc branches found difficult to get the job in IT sector
