Developer Advocate
Guys can someone tell me what is "Developer Advocate" saw many profiles on Twitter and how are these people especially girls are able to get remote jobs even after being from Tier 2-3 colleges???
I have seen a number of Devops/DevRel engineers visiting tech conferences across the world and earning really good money. Being a fresher in software engineering I would like to know more about the roles and responsibilities of a Devops/Devrel engineer. Also what roadmap should I follow after software Engineering in order to become a good Devops engineer.
P.S - If any one of you is a Devops/DevRel engineer then do mention it in your reply.
Though I havent worked as Devops guy but have closed worked with in Apple.
They manage all the infra from deployments to creating and managing CI/CD pipelines, write scripts as a language agnostic developer (any language whichever is required. Handling all nodes of servers and databases, managing endpoints, cloud, knowing all linux commands.
In a nutshell, a developer is just responsible for code, a devops guy/sre guy is responsible for everything else once the code is written.
24/7 availbility, super quick to provide resolutions for multiple breakdowns at any instance.
they work in shifts to provide the best SLA!
thats what i have seen first hand.
Just Google Kunak Kushwaha.
I don't have to Google him I am following him since he was a part of edtech start up named code for cause. And I do agree that wemakedevs have a lot of resources regarding the same. I wanted to hear from people who have closely worked with any DevRel engineers or is a one.
If only you went through his Twitter network...you can find many.
DevOps != DevRel roles
Here is something on DevRel/DevAdvocate roles: https://share.gvine.app/8CP67uLrHqjjL38H6
Is devops worth it?
I guess so, they get paid really well and most of the remote job openings are for Devops engineers lately
