What happens to your compensation once the ESOPs vesting period is over ?

Let’s say current salary is : Fixed + Variable + ESOPs (over 4 years)

For 4 years you get total amount of ESOPs promised.

Now once the 4 years are over, do you renegotiate your salary with your company to ask for additional ESOPs yearly or like just continue with Fixed + Variable from year 4 onwards ?
