The most important factor for finding a flat without broker is whether you are "family" aka married couple or a bachelor. If you are a bachelor, your scope is drastically reduced from the available pool of flats. Now, if you are married, best way is to go to these communities/societies and ask security guard. Most times, they will give you broker's number. But, sometimes they will give you facility/society manager's number. Second way is nobroker. Third way is word of mouth ie your network. Tell as many people as possible that you are looking for a flat. Here also referral works.

I would say join the flat and flatmates group and check it daily. I contacted many people before getting a good flat after a 20 day search in HSR
