What to say in an interview when asked about why I left my current role

Hey folks, need some advice - my org (edtech) recently underwent a merger. The acquiring org’s leaders apparently really liked me. They wanted me to move up to their org and relocate to another city to lead ops nationally. Had multiple rounds of conversations to convince me to do it.

My current role at acquired company also became redundant due to the merger.

Given certain personal reasons, I’m unable to relocate. Given that my current role has become redundant - I’ve been asked to move on since I currently don’t fit any other role in the acquiring company.

How do I present the reason for leaving my current role when applying for my next role? Please help :)

Whenever you attend an interviewer, the interviewer is always concerned about the value you can add to the current role and how you fit to the team and to the company. So please be confident on the roles & responsibilities while applying for relevant job openings and the merger itself is a great reason for you to switch to another company.
