Where to buy a house permanently?

Our jobs requires us to move to a different location almost every few years. Considering this fact, how do folks here decided where to buy their permanent home?

I used to live in Gurgaon before covid. I've been working remotely since then. In the long run, I don't see myself working from home all the time. I may move to work in a hybrid setup. I had always observed that there are not a lot of opportunities in Gurgaon comparing with Hyderabad or Bangalore.

Moreover, I don't like big & crowded places. I don't see myself living in these metro cities in the long run.

Buy a house when you're ready to sacrifice holidays and to limit your spending for a decade...and buy it when you see yourself being in a city for at least 3-5 years... Rest all can be figured out over a 10 year period... Depending on stage of life preferences will change and cities will also evolve

I see no sense buying a house for myself. It's better to rent if you are working in any tier 1 city away from your family. I don't want to constraint myself while switching jobs.

But since I have capacity to afford house loan and my family don't have a house of our own, on top of it property price are rising rapidly i asked my parents where they want to live after retiring. It's very important to take their preference because I have seen my parents getting irritated during covid just staying at home with nothing to do. It's important if they are having an active social life after retirement.
