Which is better GDS (Global Delivery Center) [eg EY GDS/KGS etc] or India Unit [EY India/ KPMG India etc]?
In Big 4, I’ve noticed that there is one global delivery Center (for example EY GDS or KPMG Global Services - KGS) and one India business unit (for example) EY India or KPMG India.
Which one is actually better in terms of a career and work life balance both?
What if a person enjoys work life balance but also does not want to do career suicide, what option should they choose?
I believe to be a true "blue blood consultant" you need to work (atleast) for a few years in the India market / direct client facing role. BD / Sales / Stakeholder Management are some of the most important consulting skills and a direct client facing role teaches you these. It's hard but if you are looking for a career in consulting, you need that exposure.
IMO..Global delivery centers are better.. the clients are international.. so good exposure and mostly respect your WLB.. but in the end it your team/ manager which also matters
India unit
All are good, it's management and your colleagues
