Who does marriage expenditure.

Is marriage expenditure done by parents? Or should I do saving. I see people spend 50 lacs on marriage functions and I don't have such money.

From what's happening these days and what I see, it looks like the marriage expenses are picked up who is the aspirational partner in the relationship. In my community the bride's family too up the expenditure in the past.

If the groom is tier 1 , and the brides family approached them for marriage, then the bride's family picks up the tab. If the bride is teir 1, and the groom family approached them. Then equality steps in and the groom's family voluntarily takes up half of the expense or does the marriage reception separately so the bride's family doesn't need to do it.

Of course there is an economic criteria as well. Some do step in and share the expenses so one is not burdened too much. In those cases the marriage is a simple event and usually the families know each other or both are happy decent people.

How is.. you spending money or your parents spending money different?

It’s usually an equal split. You’ve to be very clear from beginning if you meet someone on your worth, your potential and spendings
