Worrying a lot about career

( RANT ) Currently in my 2nd year of engineering in a good college in Bangalore . I am worrying a lot about career , my day starts with thinking about interships, skills, studies and ends with which career to pursue , startups / big MNC . All my day I am worrying. I know this should not be the case but I can't help , nobody around me are thinking about future, I can't discuss with anyone, they just chill and enjoy. Has they are from CS / EC , there placements are secured which is not the case with me. I know I should be focused on CGPA and skills ,but these thoughts scare me a lot , I don't know where should I focus on , which direction I should start working, no guidance, nothing. like this only 2022 passed. I have plans to pursue MBA . How to stop worrying

First make a roadmap to your current state and do predictive analysis on the present and find out what works best for you and focus on it...if possible find a mentor from your domain and seek guidance..if you focus more on what will happen then nothing good would be because your focus is distracted.

I used to be just like that in college. I used to worry a lot about everything and didn't focus on sticking to one thing even after getting advice from multiple seniors. It has been 2.5 years since I graduated, now I am starting to get some clarity on what I want and how should I get it. Don't worry so much. This is what I would have advised myself:

  1. Startup/mnc: try both. From 3-2 start applying aggressively for 6months internship at startup. If helps a lot in learning and builds resume while you are in college.
  2. Patiently start doing DSA. 1-2 questions daily. You have enough time for internship season and placement. I would suggest choose Python or Java for DSA. That can be used in backend developement. Will help you get internship as well.

If you do these two things diligently, your career will be sorted. Trust me, more than 50% fail to do this as well, myself included. Stop worrying. Develop a bias for action.

Just do 1 thing, maintain beat grades. Will help forever in life whether you want to sit for college placements, do MBA/MS

Focus on what you can work upon, no point in worrying about things which are not in your control. All good steps others have mentioned here.

There is book by Dale Carnegie, how to stop worrying and start living, read it once, try meditation
