Where the f is this country heading

We all know what has happened. How unsafe it is for a woman to literally do her job, earn an honest living, etc. For the past few days or months rather, I have been thinking of moving out of the country just to experience freedom. Of course, the thought of it also reeks of privilege and the fact that I'm able to choose whether or not I should stay in the country is also reflective of that. I'm aware of the fact that things wouldn't be as rosy abroad as people paint it to be, you have to leave a lot of comforts etc. Today is independence day. And I'm so conflicted. I'm generally a very patriotic person. I have always loved my country. It's hard to like it these days.

I was to give an interview for a post-graduate degree abroad, and right up until today morning I still had mixed feelings about leaving the country. The first startup I worked in was built on the idea of Digital India and right up until my last employer, I believed and wholeheartedly bought into the future of this country. Until the events of the last few years. Our family was extorted for money (through threats to demolish our home under false pretences) leading up to elections in Bangalore by a BJP MLA and his corrupt crew. My entire layout has become a hotbed of Hindutva nationalism to the extent that some Muslim households keep their curtains permanently closed and sadly I've lost some very good friends simply because I didn't side with them or chose to remain apolitical. But I think the last straw was today. I don't know why but today of all days I've made the decision emotionally to quit India. To be clear I have no issues with the temple and frankly, I don't know enough to battle the inevitable "you're not a true Indian/Hindu" comments that will follow this post. It's just that I have this sinking feeling we have now so thoroughly mixed politics with religion that we will never go back from here. If you think this is a victory for Hindus fair enough, but it also feels like a loss for a secular nation. Am I alone or wrong in feeling this way? PS: If you want to debate, please do with some sensible comments. It has taken a lot for me to come and post this here even if it is anonymous. I would greatly appreciate it if we could have a conversation and not a put-down contest.

Tired of every fucking thing in this city. Born and brought up in this city. Life was good. However its not the same now. Fucking overpopulation, overcrowding, over expensive rent, food, where are we heading. Public transport is good, lol, try traveling for your 9-5 job. Roads are broken. Traffic is terrible. Monsoon about to worsen things more. A pm wants to conduct a rally in this city, and my 1.5 hours of travel turns out to be of 4.5 fucking hours. Have just watched 2people fall off the local train. Someone has to step in and please do something. Please stop the population from increasing. Please do something.

Notwithstanding a few things that are going well for the country… — High GDP growth rate for a developing country — Low median age a.k.a _potential_ demographic dividend — A stable government To me, it seems like we are on a fast path to devastation. Each of the points mentioned above have a counter point but other than that — Very high income inequality [1] — Absolutely shitty education system. [2] and health system [3] — Increasing oligarchy [Adani in every fucking industry] — Reducing Labour force participation + no jobs (both government and private) = unemployment — People fighting day in - day out on religion, caste, region. On who wears what. Who eats what. Who goes where. Whatever they can find to fight for. There is absolutely ZERO hope for a large part of this country. You either need generational wealth, insane amount of talent or political connections to be moderately successful. It feels just 10 more years of this shit would make this country a massive powder keg waiting to just light up! Does anyone see hope? The US is in its late stage capitalist phase, a ship that's going to sink for the next 50 years. If you're a young person there it doesn't make sense to work as hard as your Grandpa the reward on average isn't as great. India on the other hand is poised to become a great multi-trillion $ economy. Onto something huge. We're talking like 10x growth of the economy here. Start-ups that have made it like Razorpay, Swiggy, PayTM, even Cred, if they survive will be really huge as capital in the country, liquidity and lifestyles go up over the next 50 years. Be the capitalist, take the risks, make bets, work and stack up promotions and money. Don't join an Infosys and work 70 hours there, do it for a start up of any scale you believe is going to make it. Or better yet start your own.

Governor of India just introduced Unified Pension Scheme for government employees. At times when it will become very difficult for corporate employees to survive after age of 40-45 in post AI world, this assured pension which was stopped after 2004 has been reintroduced. This will bring back the charm of government job which existed in 1970s-80s . In 70s and 80s, private jobs were synonymous with lack of job security. Globalization brought heavy salaries in corporate world and helped in reducing charm of govt job. Now, in 3-4 years, AI is going to cause huge change in corporate world thereby causing huge uncertainty. What do you people think?

I have 9+ years of experience in Software Development and Managing teams at scale. I’m in Bengaluru from last 5 years and before that I was in Mumbai for 4 years. Now I’m planning to relocate to Noida, due to following reasons: - Want to stay relatively nearer to my home town(UP) - Want to be accessible for my family and relatives, when they need me the most - Want to enjoy North Indian aspect of living - Want my kid to raise in North Indian environment I need suggestions in two things - Does Noida is a right choice considering my home town is in UP? - Which Noida sector is developed, have better infrastructure and all the basic necessities are nearby? - Which companies pay almost in similar range comparatively to Bengaluru or Hyderabad? - Any other thing that I should be aware of?
