 4. Install a smoke alarm in his room 
 5. Replace the tobacco in the cigarette with pudina leaves

I can't handle the smell of smoke nor do I want to do passive smoking nor have I even touched a cigarette in my life. I have told him multiple times to not do it. I have even blackmailed him that I will tell parents and ask them to deal with it. My parents don't drink or smoke.
 Should I tell my parents to make him stop?
I feel I have grown up and this is kinda childish way to solve problems.

Hey guys, need your guidance on how to handle this

2016- My brother started a powder coating business which become flop by 2020 because of poor planning and spending the loan cash for his personal expenses which made us fall into a debt of INR 35 lakhs. 

So we sold a land near our home and cleared all the debts

had some decent amount left along with it I took a home loan to renovate my home and we completed marriage for my brother also. 

Everything completed, My brother started to work in a Automation company and he earns INR 20k/m which is a decent salary in cbe

2024- He is again into debt of INR 5L (Online app loans, home credit, loan from friend, cc) because of his poor management,,Currently his salary is 25k. 

Thinking of his wife and kid, I sold some shares which was worth 1L and closed all the online loans, Even though that is done he still pays 14k EMI, balance which is not sufficient to run the family.

Now he’s asking me to help close other loans. I’m already paying home loan and if I take his debt to that will be huge burden for me.

I have some saving of 4L which I saved it for my marriage because no land left to sell and spend for my marriage.
 

Should I need to give him so he can close all the debts or how should I deal this?

My elder brother is so irresponsible

I live in Bangalore with 2 other flatmates in a  popular society in Bellandur. This one night my flatmate started doing some Nashe because his Hinge date stood him up at the restaurant.

I was like whatever. Who even cares about this. I had to go on a date with this girl I had been seeing for a couple of weeks.

We went to Ironhill Bangalore and had a great time. She said that she wanted to see my society. So we went there afterwards and one thing led to another and we ended up in my room. 

The next morning when I woke up I heard someone scream. It was my flatmate who saw my date leaving and he started crying saying that she was the one who stood him up. I took him to his room to calm down. Tab tak she left.

Later that day he started drinking a lot because of this and blamed his qismat. I did not know that he was drinking and I only came to know later. That was a big mistake for me.

I had to go on a trip the next day so I was busy packing. I asked him to get me 10,000 cash from ATM while I would go to get printouts of papers I needed in my village.

He took my wallet and left.

2 hours later. He came back home and gave me the transaction receipt. Apparently, he kept the transaction receipt in his left pocket and ripped up Rs. 10,000 ke notes in full Nashe and threw them away thinking that it was the reciept.

I slapped him so hard that day and asked him to vacate the flat. Made him sleep on the bloody footpath that night.

AITA? What else could have I done?

Wrote a non-smokers rant and with a fellow user's inputs, realized it should be drafted better as a discussion for the greater good.

1) Passive second-hand smoking is not only harmful but irritating too. There are designated smoking zones in offices but not all smokers exclusively stick to them given the numbers at the tea joints just outside the office buildings. Are smoking zones undersized? Chai n/a? Need wider space?

2) Outside office hours, smoking in public places causes the same problem. When you walk while smoking, the people behind you suffocate. If there're shared balconies or close windows, that smoke makes way into your neighbor's place. If they complain, consider at least changing your smoking place if shifting is not possible for either of you.

3) Use the best possible smell suppressing method, chewing gum or whatever during office hours if you don't have an isolated desk or you have to attend meetings. People feel embarrassed to bluntly call it out. Don't make them suffer.

4) If you have the resources, have you tried to consider quitting? There are Psychiatry/Neurology specialists for this. You, your loved ones and non-smokers all will be grateful.

I tried my best to humbly put the points across. It isn't intended to offend anyone.

Hello Everyone, Not sure if I should post this may delete later.
I am going through some psychological pressure now a days due to family situations.
Before moving forward I want to mention that I belong to a middle class family currently not having own house and vehicle also. I am living in a rented apartment with my family members Papa , mummy and elder brother. My father is retired from last 10 yrs and my elder brother was working in a telecom company 2 yrs back ( Currently not working anywhere from past 2 yrs and earlier company got bankrupt so did not paid salary also from 2.5 yrs ). It seems my brother confidence got loose or he is not able to find another job as he was in the same company from past 10 yrs. 2 yrs back a bad thing happened with him that his engagement cancelled with so and so reason. Now he even seems not interested in looking for job and only reading some books in mobile or watching video. My parents are very tensed about his marriage and always tell me about it as he don't talk much to anyone neither friend nor family.

I am totally lost that how should I handle this situation. Any suggestions from the people who has seen or experience this kind of situation.

I am thinking of leaving my current job and focus on myself, getting to know myself better etc. Currently I have enough money saved for my expenses for next 6-8 months. 
   Everyone I have asked about this say don't leave your job if you don't have another lined up, in this tech winter. I understand their view point. It aligns with what my parents think as well.

Is there anyone who has had done this in the past? Do you recommend this route? Are the consequences far too severe? Does anyone have a different opinion from one stated above?

I'm in the same boat, on the verge of quitting, and will most probably take the leap next month.

I have been wfh for than a year now, my parents would keep ordering me to do small household work even when I’m working. I have asked them not to do that as it distracts me, but they will not simply listen and even scold me and compare me with others that they help their parents 😅
