IIT-K Electrical or IIIT-Hyd CS?
My nephew has both these options (and IITD/B Mech, etc) to choose from . From the perspective of career growth, which one is better. Consider all factors like prospects in CS, institute brand, etc that help in building a career.
Don't listen to anyone here. IIIT Hyd CS over everything, except maybe IIT Bombay CS, or IIT Delhi CS.

Could you please share more nuance on this?

And what are your reasons? Thanks.
Placements, peer group, academics, campus life, alumni network and pretty much every other thing. And no placements at IIIT are not equivalent to old IITs.
I graduated from IIT KGP Mech.

I'm a recent grad from IIIT-H. While I thoroughly enjoyed my time and job opportunities are on par with top IITs, I would say go for IIT-K just for the brand name. The jobs you'll be eligible with electrical during placements wont be very different from CS anyways.
Not everything is just about opportunities 😂
The race will continue on for life

Exactly, which is why IIT name will open more doors in the future.

The overall campus life, peer group, brand name you'll get at iit is unmatched anywhere else. Sure, if you wanna look at only one aspect that is placements, then both colleges are comparable. But when it comes to overall experience, exposure that one gets, etc iit kanpur is miles ahead of iiit Hyderabad. Don't just look at that shiny cse degree. Other things such as campus life, exposure to varied disciplines matter too. I myself graduated in cse from 2nd gen IIT. From my pov, in your case, iit kanpur wins by a mile. You can ask any doubts if you have.

I’d say IIT B/D whatever branch in a heartbeat. I studied in an old IIT (not B or D) but the network and confidence the big city IITs give is beyond anything else. The best of the best, the choicest placement options, an incredible alumni network(especially IIT D). Also, college culture and life is a big draw.
I wouldn’t even consider IIIT cos I believe there’s more to life than CS courses but IIT B/D or if CS is necessary then IIT K
Being an IITK electrical passout i would suggest going for IITK. You won't regret it.
IIIT Hyderabad CS. No bullshit courses and electives. Straight forward computer science. Coding culture is also great there.

Honestly I don't have enough pointers here, but one factor you can consider is do you have a plan for Masters ? If you have a CS grad degree(that too from IIIT H none the less), you are more likely to get a good school abroad, that's what my experience is. However IIT has the brand, so dunno.

CS is the best.....The only thing you need to get clarity on is whether should I pursue CS in IITH so that I can put CS major on my resume and get a job (or) should I pursue other branches in more better colleges so that I get more exposure, get to participate in more activities inclining myself towards CS but your major will be other branch on resume
After you get into a CS job it doesn't matter what you major in
Here is a story of my friend...He joined in pharmacy in BITS pilani just so that he can get a platform, now he is placed in McAfee with 45 LPA ( CS Role).
Another story : Had a CS degree from Tier2 college, less opportunities in college but applied off campus and placed in Microsoft (40 LPA) (CS research side)
But in your case both are top colleges, go to IIITH website look for placements, if it satifies you, opt in. And also where do you stay, if you stay in hyd, IIITH would be the best choice

If brand and tag matters then IIT-K, but if you really want to learn computer science and get hefty packages IIIT-H >>>> IIT-K.
I have a bias for IIIT.
Let's keep it simple.
If you belong to any major city (Delhi, Mumbai etc) and are part of the upper middle class, you'll find IIT-K suffocating as hell.
If you're from South India, choose IIIT-H, a much better option for a comfortable life, as long as you're ok with giving up the old IIT title.
If neither applies, don't think twice, choose IIT-K
The "not from IIT" stigma sticks, even if you are an EM at Google or working at an HFT.
This is the same as any top MBA vs IIM thingy.
Choose wisely.

IITK for sure!!
Both equally exciting and sexy opportunity.
No definite answer.
If your nephew already know that he loves coding or wanna be into AI or Blockchain etc. Then Should choose IIITH CS; if wanna explore more opportunity to explore his interests or say little confuse in between future (I am guessing most 18 years old are confused) careers in management, core engineering, research & higher education (foreign) and coding, then choose IITK.
Although shouldn't be much difference actually.
I would suggest to consider location, fees etc. for choosing if matters to your family.

IIT K electrical has the same job options in CS as IIIT H grad but has other options as well like consulting and quant research. Plus a much better brand value and better peers and alumni network.

If you value the network and brand, go for IITK. If you want a high paying job, go for IIITH (IIITH CS is highly valuable)
