I have been put on PIP

I have been put on PIP (Performance Improvement Programme) . It's a 3 month long thing, I have to show improvement, if I don't, I will be let go. They are saying that my technical skills are weak and I need to spend time outside my work brushing up those skills. If I improve then good else they'll let me go. Things escalated this much because my team lead complained that because of me, he had to rework certain things in the project which increased the timeline. And he did this to save himself. He has been working on another task alone by himself since a month. I had no involvement in that, yet he's taking so long himself. To hide his shortcoming as a team lead, he is using me as a shield. Now my dilemma is, should I focus on proving my worth to the company or should I just keep applying for jobs? Considering the current market situation, what would be the best way for me to look for jobs?

Tbh this was quite inspiring. I took some time to process the whole thing and decided to spend my time and energy outside of work to look for a new and better job.

I'm sorry to hear that. IMHO, it's not just about proving your worth. Considering the market situation, it could take some time until you get another job. If you really like your current job, try to do well and accomplish something more objective during PIP and presnt it to the company. Once your PIP gets over, and you're taken back as a permanent employee, you can put a request your super boss or HR to put you in a different team so you can continue to perform better. Simultaneously, keep looking for other opportunities. Referral works better, try to reach out to your batch mates or friends and family to see if they can refer you in their organisation. Don't leave your current job without getting another one unless you really cannot take it anymore. Try to introspect, be honest to yourself, get your priorities right and take an informed decision. Maybe! From the post I understand that boss was trying to save himself and put blame on Pingu. As long as Pingu performs exceptionally well during PIP, I don't see a reason why super boss or HR would not want to retain him. Again, do what your heart says, but be mindful of consequences of quitting without another job in hand. Yes, but not over your physical and mental wellbeing.

Prepare for your next job and leave the company before completing the PIP period. Nobody cares for you anywhere other than yourself.

This was really inspiring. Your comment & @ElonMast 's comment made me take the decision to spend my time preparing for interviews and looking for a job. I weighed out the whole situation and it's indeed extremely risky to rely on the outcome of PIP. It means that I'm at their mercy and I have to forget about a promotion or appraisal which I know I deserve. I can't let myself be the victim of stupid corporate politics. Really grateful to you peeps for your support! 😊

Does your Company has a history of moving out employees from PIP to regular or is it PIP and fire? If it's the latter, please start searching for a new job. Once you are in PIP, your team will know about it and colleagues will start seeing you differently. Better move out , start fresh and shine!

Idk the trend in this company. But I did see a guy randomly getting relieved from the job. When I asked around I found out he had made some mistake at the job. Like I literally seen him in office a week before and he was not there a week later. Even another person from our team left quite mysteriously. Idk if these people were on PIP or not.

I’m a bit confused what option should I need to opt. I’m looking for jobs but didn’t receive any calls till now but I’m actively applying. From many people I’ve heard that in PIP they are giving hard to achieve tasks and pressurising to resign else if got fail in PIP, they will terminate and will give termination letter instead of relieving letter. What option should I opt , considering all the possibilities and current market situation? P.S - I have 2 YOE in front end development Suggestions from experience would be highly appreciated and can help me.

My Manager told me that I am not performing well and suddenly put me in PIP plan . He has already told me in September that my performance was low, and I have worked hard after that to show him. Even in 1:1s after September he has told me that I am improving. But I did not expect him to give me the pivot document suddenly. He has given a project which I was already working on and now I need to deliver it by Nov end. The L4 (front end/software engineer) tasks are not easy to achieve, but I am scared about the fact that recession is coming and this might be an Amazon way of kicking people out and even if I delivered everything he asked for, he can still decide to kick me out. So , can anyone help me with referrals and tell me what should I do at this situation? What is the best way to survive PIP as well as prepare for interview? I am in L4 and have worked for amazon for 14 months till now.

Hi guys, I am recently facing a situation where I am about to be put in PIP. I was working in US tax for 2 years and my outcome was not coming positive. So to avoid the PIP situation I took a transfer to US compensation for the same. As I thought I can give a fresh start to my career. But recently I have been reached out by talent and they are putting me in the PIP situation. My Coach is also not supporting and I don't want to be in this situation since I have a lot of financial burden and the job market situation is not great as well. What should I do in this situation?
