Hello folks, So I got an offer from a US based product company for remote role for Product designer.
This company just raised a seed funding.
They don’t have any office in India but their tech team and some of the people from leadership team (CxOs) are from India.
I’m confused whether to go with this offer or not.
Reason:
Their interview process was too good to be true, it was very quick, no assignments given, they just saw the portfolio, ask some process related questions and then they agreed to give offer.
It’s a pure remote company with no plans to build office in India in coming future.
They have very small team, I’ll be working as 2nd designer only.
As per the current job market, I’m afraid about their future.
YOE : 3yrs Hike that I’m getting is 50%
Help a fellow UX designer decide whether to go with this or not.
If they don't have india presense they will hire you on long term contract and they will keep renewing it. Also you may not get PF contribution as it doesn't have India entity.
The tax is going to be a bit different. They'll deduct TDS from US and will pay the salary to you. So when you file ITR here in India you may have to show that you have already paid tax to US (withholding tax). May need to work with a CA for this.
Talk with some India based employees on Linkedin and ask them how the payroll works. Ask if the salary is credited on time.
These are the only bottlenecks I see here. If you can manage these then take a leap of faith. I've interviewed with Rocket.chat, PopSQl & Deel and it was the same senario. Unfortunately I wasn't selected but if I got in I would've taken it (just my opinion).

If company hires in hurry they fires in hurry! If this is the only offer in hand then please join as you don’t have anything to lose.
