Having FOMO about people moving out to study
I am seeing a lot of people (most without and some with a good job here in India) move out to Europe and sometimes US to pursue MS. Is it really worth it for me to take this path if I have a decent paying job here? I think I'll have to start preparing ASAP if I decide to move, since post MS my experience here won't matter much. A person with 2 years of experience and another with a year of experience pre MS will command similar pay post MS. Pls correct me if I'm wrong. (For context, I'm 23 and my remuneration is 20lpa at a startup)

It is not just about the pay, but also the fact that moving outside grooms you very differently as a person. It is also an opportunity to meet new people and make good friends. Most importantly, the tag gets added to your profile (I'm from a tier 3 college).
Yes i agree with exposure and all. But meeting new people this doesn't happen for many. As far as I have seen( I am a Telugu guy so I will talk about what majority of Telugu students or my friends are doing). They go to US for MS and form groups based on language. Very few interact with US citizens. This happens a lot.

That is so true. Unfortunately some of them had to lose their lives too since the racist pricks felt 'threatened' by the foreign language (as reported in the news). While that is an extreme example, people from certain states form linguistic groups in Indian colleges like IITs, BITS, NITs, IIMs etc. Folks used to wonder why would they work hard and study in a national level college if they only wished to converse with people from their own state.

Yup, the part about exposure in your comment is true, the more you study/move, in country or abroad, the more exposure you get
It's a game of opportunity cost, I'm personally someone who struggles with FOMO quite a lot when it comes to my professional life and that's why take on way more projects than I should.
On the other hand, most, if not all, of these people will come back. Take it from someone who's classmates went to Oxford and Queen Mary for their post grads. The job markets abroad, as compared to India, is much more stagnant. In my opinion, only those people who have nothing going on in India and no future here but enough family money to move have moved abroad
In my opinion, if you're earning that much, and enjoy working, do that and travel as you go along ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That's what I'm doing (minus the travel part at the moment :P)

Remember education is not everthing, its about your personal choice.
One of my friend who is 24 yrs age and didnt pass 7th standard is recruited by a Germany company for remote job and earning 48 lpa with amazing wlb.
I am not saying dont go for study but always ask yourself what you want. Better to regret your own decision then to follow blind crowd.
